Match Report: Narrow defeat in pulsating Teika derby (2-3)
Women's football returned to the Ciudad Deportiva on Friday the 25th of September thanks to the Teika derby, VCFF's Main Sponsor. José Bargués'side faced Levante UD in a pulsating derby; which saw the visitors come away with the win by 2-3.
There were chances for both sides but Carol Férez made it 0-1 to Levante UD on the half-hour mark but Valencia CF Femenino had an immediate response at the other end only two minutes as Cristina Cubedo headed VCFF back level.
The first half finished lock together at 1-1 with nothing to separate the sides at half-time.
VCFF we playing in their second strip despite being the home side and they started the second half taking charge of proceedings, dominating and having two clear-cut chances through Lina Salmi and Asun Martínez with the latter putting VCFF in front on 53 minutes.
Asun Martínez finished off a brilliant Julia Aguado backheel through ball in between the marker’s legs. Asun made no mistake and slotted it away brilliantly with a one touch finish past the Levante UD keeper. However, Levante UD Femenino turned it around in the closing stages with two goals inside two minutes, Alba Redondo on 90 minutes and Fiamma Benítez on 92 minutes.
Valencia CF Femenino came away with a positive feeling from the pre-season derby despite LUD's last gasp turnaround ahead of their Primera Iberdrola opener on the first weekend of October away at Sport Club Huelva.
